Is it a good eye or a good camera that makes a good photograph?
My instincts tell me it is a good eye, and a camera is just the tool for the capture. Developing an artistic eye is truly a gift and can be nourished and improved with practice. One of the best pieces of advice I have ever received is to bring a camera with you everywhere and be ready for the shot as soon as you see it. Learning camera settings can significantly help you to achieve this. I will help you learn how to use your camera and develop your sense of style in private photography lessons for adults.
Since 2010, I have been teaching photography to beginners with no previous knowledge of photography.
It has been rewarding in many ways yet frustrating in some ways. How could I teach what I have learned in forty-two years in just four hours? It wasn’t easy. I assumed that people read their manuals and did some online preparation for the lessons. I was wrong, and I saw many students walk away frustrated because they were overwhelmed with how much there is to know to operate a camera. The ones who succeeded were the ones who went home and practiced, took more courses, and became independent learners.
On September 16, 2017, I taught my last in-person beginner-level course at my studio in Duluth. I have received hundreds of positive reviews and have met the most wonderful people, some of who have become lifelong friends. Why end it? I have decided to restructure my teaching to create more success stories with my students. That is why I have developed Photography Lessons for those willing to invest the time to learn photography with some hand-holding from me.
The Private Photography Lessons is a series of six individual and personalized sessions geared for your learning style.
We can meet at my studio if you are in the Atlanta area or via Skype for people anywhere in the world. The program is for any level photographer, from beginner to more advanced. Each session lasts one hour, and you are expected to practice in between sessions and submit photographs demonstrating what you have learned. This program goes beyond what I can teach in just a four-hour class. It is designed for those who want to make learning photography a priority and can commit to a six–week schedule with daily practice.
Private Photography lessons and tutoring are available in Duluth, Alpharetta, Cumming, Johns Creek, Suwanee, Lawrenceville, Buford, Norcross, Marietta, Roswell, Peachtree Corners, Buckhead, all of Gwinnett County, E Cobb County, Forsyth County, and Fulton County.
