Summer Photography Lessons and Workshops

Beginner | Intermediate Photography Lessons and Specialty Workshops will be offered this summer in June.

Beginner Level Group Photography Lessons

This will be a small group with only 10 students. Teens are welcome.

As just a quick “sneak preview,” the content of the beginner photography class covers the following:

  • Shooting modes; aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual mode
  • ISO settings
  • Depth of field
  • Composition
  • White balance setting
  • Lighting
  • Lenses & filters
  • How to see the light
  • Fill-flash
  • Histograms
  • Metering modes

When – Saturday, June 10 and 17 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Independent study will also be required during the week. Homework will be assigned after each lesson.

Rain dates – June 11 and 18

Where – Sims Lake Park, Suwanee GA

Cost – $175. Please note that no refunds or credits will be requested if requested less than seven days from the course date.

What to bring – DSLR or Mirrorless camera, camera manual, all lenses, a tripod, filters (if any), bug spray, sunscreen, water

Intermediate Level Group Photography Lessons

This will be a small group with only 6 students. Teens are welcome

This advanced-level workshop will cover the following:

  • A deeper dive into shooting in manual mode, especially creative exposures
  • Learn how to use exposure bracketing and process HDR images
  • Developing your own sense of artistic style
  • Shooting in RAW with an introduction to Adobe Camera Raw/Lightroom

When – June 26 and 27 from 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM. Independent study will also be required during the week. Homework will be assigned after each lesson.

Where – Duluth – address will be provided upon registration

Cost – $175. Please note that no refunds or credits will be requested if requested less than seven days from the course date.

What to bring – DSLR or Mirrorless camera, camera manual, all lenses, a tripod, filters (if any), bug spray, sunscreen, water.

Wildlife and Nature

  • Learn how to capture fast-moving subjects.
  • Learn how to compose using the rule of thirds and leading lines.
  • Experiment with spot-metering, creative exposures
  • Looking for unique items in nature

When – June 19 from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Rain date – June 20

Where – Roswell Riverwalk

Waterfalls and Long Exposure Photography

  • Learn the best settings for long exposures
  • Learn how to use a neutral density filter to block light
  • Learn how to create stunning landscape and waterfall photography

When – June 21 from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Rain date – June 22

Where – Vickery Creek at Roswell Mill, Roswell GA

Cost – $50. Please note that no refunds or credits will be requested if requested less than seven days from the course date.

What to bring – DSLR or Mirrorless camera, camera manual, all lenses, a tripod, filters (if any), bug spray, sunscreen, water. You will also need a neutral density filter (3-8 stop range).
